Giving

Why Give? As Christians our core pursuit is to be like our God and our Savior. Simply put, to be like God means to be a giver. A core attribute of God is being a giver. "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son" (John 3:16)

The Tithe | The Bible asks us to give our first and our best back to God and He will bless the rest (Leviticus 27:3, Deuteronomy 14:23). This first is the tithe, or "tenth" of our income. We return to the Lord 10% of what He's given us because it belongs to him. The tithe to God's Church is responding to God's call to put him first.

Need | So much of our life is focused on the things we obtain in this world. Likes on social media, a big house, a new car, a new phone, the American dream. None of which are wrong or bad, unless they are the focus of your life. When things are the focus of our lives - instead of owning things, the things come to own us. "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."(Matthew 6:24) We need to give to keep the word from owning us and to allow our master to be God alone.
